In today’s digital world, data storage is a valuable asset that can quickly become expensive if not used efficiently. Outdated, inaccurate, or duplicate data files are often sitting on an organization’s storage systems, taking up space and increasing costs. Manually cleaning storage and removing files and data that are not needed is time-consuming and repetitive.
To address this pain point for our clients, IBM Aspera is happy to introduce the new policy-based file deletion feature for folders! This new feature is available to users on Aspera on Cloud on AWS and IBM Cloud as of March 9, 2023. Users on the Standard subscription of Aspera on Cloud have access to this policy on one node, Advanced users can configure ten nodes, and Enterprise users can configure up to 250 nodes.
The feature is for the Aspera on Cloud Files app and allows administrators to configure automatic file deletion after a set number of days on any configured node. The deletion policy is based on the creation date of the content, not the modification date. Additionally, the folder itself will not be deleted unless it is emptied by the deletion triggered by the File Deletion Policy. The deletion policy will never delete shared folders and folders with public links.
For help turning on a File Deletion Policy for a specific node read our documentation on Aspera’s Help Center page!
