In IBM MQ 9.1.5 both the user experience and look and feel of the Web Console have been redesigned.
Common activities, such as creating a queue manager or queue, have been included on the landing page to help accelerate the task-based user experience:
First time users can gain an understanding of basic messaging concepts by viewing the MQ basics and Messaging styles tiles:
Viewing and managing a Queue Manager is straight forward; from a single view users can easily switch between the core messaging object tabs or navigate to the Configuration section to manage the properties and security of the queue manager.
Cards are also used in various sections of the new MQ Console to provide key summaries that can help users quickly determine where their attention is needed most:
When creating new messaging resources such as Queues, the user is guided through the options available such as the type of Queue:
Initially the user is shown only the parameters that are frequently used, to assure new users are not confused:
While the option is provided to enable all options for the more advanced MQ Administrator:
This release is just the start, the console is available today across distributed platforms, MQ Certified Containers and the managed service with more to come.
