In some ways you could argue it takes a special brand of crazy to enter a space filled with deeply entrenched competition, and a reputation as one of the most competitive software industries around. Yet… That’s exactly what we did. In the mid 2010s the reality of modern, dynamic, cloud-native architectures hit the observability space in a big way. Many of the long time players found themselves struggling to keep pace with the rate at which the industry was changing, and this was turbocharged when a certain global event occurred in 2020. Yet it’s these factors that led to the creation and success of a little tool called Instana. I am proud to not only be a former customer, SE, and current WW Director of Tech Sales for the tool but also speaking at TechXchange to share each element of the product’s story, my own journey, and some of our customer’s journeys.
