  • 1.  Object Storage Options for ICPforD?

    Posted Thu September 13, 2018 09:38 AM
I'd like to understand the capabilities of ICPforD within the on-prem environment as compared to WDP/Watson Studio in the public cloud.  What functionality does ICPforD offer regarding Object Storage, and does it have feature parity with COS?

    For example:
    • What is the best practice for storing data in Parquet files and querying with something like Cloud SQL Query?
    • Is there an equivalent to registering a Data Asset in WKC and then enforcing role-based allow/deny access control in COS?
    • Is there an Object Storage solution that offers API compatibility with COS?

    Thanks.

1). Parquet files can be stored with Db2 Event Store which is integrated as an add-on with ICP for Data.
2). As of now there is no enforcing whether data is in COS.  But registering/discovering data assets etc. are available.
3). Object Store is not currently deployable part of ICP for Data as of now but we would like to learn more from you and use as a possible tech preview.
