IBM Destination z will present its second webinar, “Best-of-Breed Analytics on System z,” on Oct. 29. It will feature presenter Carl Parris, the chief architect for analytics on System z at IBM and a senior technical staff member in System z Strategy, Design and Performance Analysis.
Parris will discuss how the convergence of predictive analytics in commercial computing environments places certain requirements on system hardware and software infrastructure. The webinar will explain how to integrate data-intensive and numerically intensive computing into the zEnterprise ecosystem and outline the challenges that must be addressed to enable best-of-breed analytics solutions on System z.

Destination z’s inaugural webinar this past June, “IBM Experts Answer Questions About the Modern Mainframe,” attracted more than 200 attendees. It featured a discussion of the future of the System z platform with Bryan Foley, program director, IBM System z Strategy, and Innes Read, enterprise architect, TCO, IBM Software Group Strategy. As Destination z plans new webcasts beyond October, we’re looking for your input regarding topics. A survey on our forum lists several potential topics, such as mobile computing and Linux on System z. So far mobile is leading the vote with 42 percent with Linux gaining 28 percent, and cloud 14 percent. Destination z members are encouraged to vote or post their own topic of choice.
In addition, attendees of the IBM System z Technical University at Enterprise 2013
will be able to vote at the Destination z booth during the Oct. 21-25 event at the Bonnet Creek Conference Center in Orlando, Fla. One lucky voter will be randomly selected to win a Best Buy gift card.
