I think we are invited to introduce ourselves so here is mine.

I was in high school in 1970. There was a class for high school students teaching Fortran using an IBM 1620. After that I began going to IBM in Los Angeles for a class for high school students for learning COBOL. During that time I bought an IBM 370 Principles of Operation and learned a bit about Assembler for Mainframes. I then went into the US Army and got 4 years experience using COBOL. After the Army I had many positions as a COBOL programmer. After the IBM PC became available I coincidentally developed health problems and then my employer at the time laid of thousands of people. Then I switched to the Microsoft world.

I have been using C++ and C# using Visual Studio. I am retired but I intend to continue programming. I am learning about website development. I have become frustrated with the Microsoft way of doing things but I have decided C# is the best language for websites. I want to use C# and ASP.Net Core for websites but I want to avoid other Microsoft software as much as possible, such as using Eclipse instead of Visual Studio. I am excited to be back in the IBM community.

I posted a question in the .Net Group but I do not see it. Is there a place to ask about ASP.Net Core website development using Linux, asking either in the IBM Community or elsewhere?

I see that developers can use Red Hat Linux and developer tools for free. I intend to do that.

Hey Mr./Mrs. Sam did you consider learning flutter, it now supports web development, and it will allow you to write code once and export to ios, android, web, desktop, and linux
