IBM Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability V1.1 synchronizes data for concurrent business intelligence and reporting, bringing balance and optimization to workload distribution management

Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability supports highly available Db2 Warehouse environments by synchronizing table and schema contents, whether on the same platform, across the data centre, or around the world. This software replication offering supports active and stand-by replicas for workload balancing, shifting workloads during planned outages while also dramatically reducing the time to recovery for unplanned outages when used with application management and automation solutions.

Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability helps protect against data loss while also ensuring rapid recovery by synchronizing data on a primary database server with one or more secondary database servers. Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability is designed for very low latency with full recovery, while also minimizing the potential for data loss in an unplanned outage situation.

Unlike pure hardware or file copy disaster recovery solutions, Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability allows for the primary source database to always remain active, with the secondary copies also available for real workloads. This approach complements hardware-based disaster recovery by providing multiple active copies of data that can be distributed across several target servers.

Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability replicas act as read-write standby servers in case of system failure or planned downtime on the primary source, while also enabling active use in support of query-centric workloads, which increases the value of the secondary data platform. The secondary data platform is typically used for concurrent business intelligence and reporting, and workload distribution, balancing, and optimization.

With a core focus on the replication of Db2 Warehouse row and columnar organized tables and related schemas that are deployed as part of the IBM Integrated Analytics System's unified hardware and software data warehouse and data science solution, Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability V1.1 brings deployment profile expansion and enhancements through continuous delivery. Specifics about supported platforms are defined in the Data Replication for Db2 Continuous Availability system requirements.
