The process is as I described in the webcast. At some point this year, IBM will release a letter detailing what the end-of-support dates are. Once announced, you can be sure the IIUG will make sure the Informix community is aware. There will also be posts in the Informix Community discussion area. ...

To further follow up, here are the questions and answers from the webinar (in no particular order). In some cases the answers are expanded and refined from earlier today: TLS? What does that TLA stand for? TLS = Transport Layer Security. We're supporting updated TLS version with v14.10 Right ...

Thanks for writing. From development: There were no new CSDK/JDBC uploads for 14.10.xC10W2 as no changes were needed in 4.50. For 12.10.xC16W1 there should be CSDK and JDBC 4.10.xC16W1's available. I see a CSDK for AIX only and no JDBC's listed. We have someone looking into this. Thanks a lot. - ...

A little more information. IBM's policy is to support a current release and one behind. So when Informix 15 is released later this year, it is reasonable to assume that an announcement for V.12.10 end-of-life process will be made. It is an announcement only and will include the dates when IBM will stop ...

I am passing this on from the organizing committee IBM TechXchange: Informix Technology Days 2024 on March 13 and 14, 2024. After a few years of Corona-related break, Informix Technology Days will take place again in 2024 at the Watson Center in Munich. All types of (potential) Informix users ...

You also need to indicate which Informix version you're using. In addition to the obvious resource differences Art has highlighted, significant changes to the communication and other H/A cluster technologies occurred in v.14. Off the top of my head, I can't remember the exact fixpack, it may be FC6, ...

Unlike the Informix engine, there isn't a Developers Edition of any Informix tool (ISQL, 4GL, etc). Time-based evaluation licenses are available as part of a purchase process through an IBM seller but that's it. Sorry. ------------------------------ Carlton Doe ------------------------------

If I may -- I Strongly discourage the use of the informix ID as the monitoring and administration ID. Since that is the ID that actually executes operations within the instance, that give all IHQ users greater levels of authorization than they deserve, possibly to their detriment. What you need to do ...

Yes, that is correct. Don't forget the admin ID has to be part of the DBSA group so you'll have to modify that ID and add it into group informix. Good luck. p.s. here's the script I use. My O/S /IHQ worker IDs are called ihq_admin and ihq_monitor for obvious reasons. set_perms.bsh #!/bin/bash ...

I assume you've been reading the documentation, correct? Unfortunately required start up information is not well organized and some is buried quite deep in another topic. As Hedwig states, there is a Master IHQ admin ID. This is called admin and the password was set in the IHQ server properties ...

Eric is correct. Unfortunately this confusion may trace back to IBM's usage of Hot/Warm/Cold (HWC) for designating secondaries. It works for other IBM products except for Informix. So you know, we are working to clarify when a license is required and when it isn't in the licensing document. It will say ...

Yes, default roles is not part of IHQ. I trust you found how to mange permissions on databases and tables while logged in as the IHQ administrator under the DBServer Administration : Privileges option. ------------------------------ Carlton Doe ------------------------------

The CSDK was split off of the engine with V.14. There is a separate download for each along with separate installations. In the dark ages, it did matter which order you installed Informix products. There were two prevailing approaches TEN and NET which stood for tools (4GL/ISQL), engine then network ...

Well you've asked a question for which I can give my favorite answer . . . . . . . "it depends." :) If this is installed on a "personal" machine that is not intended for multi-user use, you can install with your UID, usually into a directory of your choosing then you are the only person who can ...

Is there a reason you're not installing the CSDK as root? The problem stems for the fact that when the engine is installed as root, directories are created and permissions assigned designed for multi-user access. When the CSDK is installed using a different ID, this is referred to as a Private Install ...
