I hope I am not breaking any IBM rule asking this question but we are evaluating Rubrik as a replacement for TSM. I would appreciate any insight from anyone involved in that process. From what I saw, I am not sure it is the right DB2 yet.

    Thanks

    Hi Walter,

there are many ways to backup (and restore) Db2 databases. Some are easier, some are not.
TSM is well known for the full integration to send backups to, archive logfiles, use it as destination for LOAD copies, use db2adutl to query archived objects, etc.

Some customers save their backups to file systems, which get saved with some other backup software. Some use snapshots and home grown scripts to flush bufferpools., suspend writes, split mirrors and do the copy. Some take longer, some don't.
Very few backup software vendors have the same level of plugins for Db2 to write archive logs directly into the backup vault.

If I have a quick glance at Rubiks homepage, I don't find the keyword Db2 (or Informix) at all on their pages. They only mention IBM as a partner to support the IBM Cloud.

If your management is determined to go that way, you will have to solve this Rubik puzzle for your data.

    Good luck!
