    Hi,

Concerning I have some java problems with some of our programs.
As OAT, can informixHQ run outside informix server only with CSDK installed?

    Hi Sergio,

since HQ is purely JDBC based, you'd not even need CSDK or any other driver software installed.
You can take and put informixhq-agent.jar and/or informixhq-server.jar whereever you want (that has java installed and connectivity to the db server) and run it there.

    Sergio,
Install the latest and greatest (which I think is 14.10.FC5, that comes with HQ 1.4), make a tar file of the $INFORMIXDIR/hq directory, and extract it in the servers you want to monitor. Remember, HQ comes standard with 14.10 and above, but you can monitor 12.10 and above with support from IBM/HCL. I understand (more like "I've heard") that HQ will work with 11.70, but it is not supported.
Other than that, I'd suggest you to have an HQ server that monitors your other servers, which will be running the agents. Look at your "free -m" command output to see if you have enough memory to run the server in your monitor server, or the agents in all the clients. I was told by IBM support that the agent running all sensors should use 190-200Mb of memory. Look into your hosts "free -m" command (in Linux) to see your free and available memory. If you want to keep the metrics in a database that you can query, you can run an Informix instance in your HQ server to serve as a repository of the metrics data.
    My 0.02... ^_^
    Cheers!

    Thanks for reply Ramon,

The information is excellent as I have a project with 12 instances and their RSS feeds to control.

    Best regards,
