Now Generally Available

IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator Version 7.5!

The latest version of the Db2 Analytics Accelerator, which delivers the highly anticipated Integrated Synchronization capability, is now generally available.

The Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS Version 7.5 delivers much deeper integration between Db2 for z/OS and the Accelerator, with Integrated Synchronization. This transformative new capability provides an integrated, low-latency data coherency protocol between Db2 for z/OS and the Db2 Analytics Accelerator. This logically unites data and ensures transactionally consistent analytic query results. Whether running a transactional or analytic query, only the most current data is used, thus guaranteeing data coherency. And because the data is always current – the insight derived from it will be more accurate.

Version 7.5 delivers:

  • Integrated Synchronization a new advanced data synchronization technique
  • A wider range of scalability for Db2 Analytics Accelerator on IBM Z deployments -- from very small to very large
  • Further quality and performance improvements

The Db2 Analytics Accelerator Version 7.5, announced on October 15, became generally available on December 6, 2019.

Finaly I have upgreaded all our IIAS from v7.1.9 to v7.5.

Just wanted to share with anyone interested this information about fix categories. I have noticed that a new FIXCAT keyword has been introduced for IDAA V7.5 (IBM.DB2.AnalyticsAccelerator.V7R5).

But could not find yet any PTFs associated to it. I asked IBM details and I'd like to share the answer form IDAA L3:

Db2z will tag new APARs applicable for IDAA V7 using the FIXCAT keywords for both IDAA 7.1 and IDAA 7.5.

For DB2-APARs that were issued prior to General Availability of IDAA 7.5 we have the following understanding:

 - the corresponding PTFs are also applicable to IDAA 7.5

  - there are no plans to edit these APARs and to apply the IDAA 7.5-FIXCAT keyword in addition to the IDAA 7.1-FIXCAT keyword

There are always different opinions concerning the strictness of specifying the DB2z- prereq level: there are people that favour specifying a high PUT-level, others feel more reluctant.

Based on your question I will clarify on the IDAA V7 prereq page on the Internet that we recommend all PTFs for DB2z-APAR having tagged with either of the FIXCAT keywords for IDAA 7.1 or 7.5 .

Thanks to IDAA support team for the answer.
