Db2 Administration Foundation for z/OS – Additional SQL tuning and security support delivered

PTF 8 (PH42480) delivered enhancement for products using Unified Management Server (UMS), released in December 2021:

Additional SQL Tuning capabilities are now available in Db2 Administration Foundation. Users can capture SQL from the Db2 dynamic statement cache, plan, and package with a one simplified, consistent user experience.  The following example shows how easily SQL capture can be performed.

PTF 7 (View more about PTF 7) provided users the ability to tune a query that is typed in or copy pasted into the Explorer SQL displayed in the Unified Experience interface and from the SQL list nested deeply in the package dashboard.  With PTF 7, you could get to the same result, but would have many more clicks to get your result.  The enhancement delivered in PTF 8, reduces the effort.

PTF 8 also provides the ability to capture query environment information that is needed to diagnose query performance issues.  It also provides the ability to switch between multiple related tuning jobs.  Users are able to analyze the output of Visual Explain and Statistics Advisor for a given query by switching between the results and launching a query environment capture without having to go back and forth between pages.
Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) support is also included in PTF 8 for the products using UMS such as Db2 Administration Foundation and Db2 DevOps Experience. Note that once installed, Db2 DevOps Experience users can also use the features and functions available in Db2 Administration Foundation.
