Db2 Administration Tool: Advanced Db2 Catalog Search by building SQL SELECT prototype by Meagan Yee and Kate Wheat

In the Db2 Administration Tool, did you know that you can search for and filter Db2 objects based on any object attribute that is stored in the Db2 catalog? Besides helping you find objects, filtering in this way can also help limit the number of objects listed on the system catalog panels. A smaller list of objects makes it easier for you to use the primary commands on a certain set of objects. For example, you can filter a list of table spaces so that only those table spaces that were created in a certain time period are listed and then issue the GRANT primary command against only those table spaces.

To search for an object based on its object attributes, you can use "Build SQL SELECT Prototype" to refine the select criteria.  This prototype feature helps you build a dynamic SQL statement to query the Db2 catalog for the specified attribute values. I’ve created a detailed example that is now available for your use in the Db2 Tools Community Library under Db2 Administration Tool.   You can also find more information on Building SQL SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE statements in the Knowledge Center.
