  • 1.  Components required for Memory Inception feature in IBM Power E0180

    Posted 2 days ago

Has IBM announced the feature codes required for configuring Memory Inception capability on IBM Power E1080 Systems?

IBM Power E1080 supports Memory Inception as part of Power10 architecture, but I haven't seen any official announcement regarding the specific components and/or feature codes required to configure this capability. Has anyone received any information from IBM on this?

Here is a press release if you have not heard of this before. I can see how this would be amazing for SAP.

Thanks for sharing the press release. I have already seen it and I'm aware that Memory Inception is supported on Power10 - and yes, it sounds promising, especially for SAP and other memory-heavy workloads.

But my question is a bit more specific:
Has IBM officially released the feature codes or components needed to actually configure Memory Inception on Power E1080 systems?

I haven't come across any documentation or updates about this yet.

    No... ;)

Memory Inception is a feature of the Power10 processor. Today, no commercially available firmware from IBM (and, to the best of my knowledge, from any other OpenPOWER Foundation member) is available that makes it accessible to an OS. I am not even sure it is part of the ISA... @Toshaan Bharvani, is it? So if you need it, you need to have some friends in Austin/Armonk.
