Summary

IBM Consulting collaborates with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to plan and build digital experiences that engage the tournament’s 10 million yearly viewers around the world through the US Open app and usopen.org. IBM also provides the tournament with cybersecurity and digital platform support. Together, these solutions help the USTA maintain a world-class digital experience, deliver new features to fans and push the boundaries of innovation.

Leveraging AI, IBM is able to create enriching and engaging fan experiences. Match Insights with Watson are AI-powered fact sheets that transform structured and unstructured data into key insights about every singles match, helping to predict winners and giving fans a chance to have their say. Key features:
• IBM Power Index, an AI-powered analysis of player performance to help fans know who to follow beyond the most well-known, highly ranked players
• Likelihood to Win (predictions), elements of the Power Index are used to assign a win probability to both players prior to the match
• In the Media uses Watson Discovery, a custom news archive and natural language processing (NLP) to extract key insights about each player from those trusted news sources
• Win Factors detail the reasoning behind the Likelihood to Win predictions, demonstrating a concept known as “AI explainability,” which allows businesses to better understand and trust the recommendations made by AI algorithms.

In this webinar, we will go under the hood and share the AI and hybrid cloud techniques that helps to power these key features and discuss how they can be applied to other business applications.
