XQE-MDX-0017 The query: "Query1" requires more resources than allowed. The number of rows returned in the MDX exceeds the maximum. The allowable value is "8" OOM and the estimated value is "18.5" OOM (OOM is the order of magnitude, i.e. log10(N), where N the number of elements).

We are using Cognos Ananlytics 11.0.13. And this error occurs when we select more than 5 members in list report on a Oracle database. Have someone a solution?

This error is usually thrown for large queries.

I assume 5 members each referring to another dimension (DMR or OLAP source) which could quickly result in lots of data. Therefore we've limited the number.
I recommend to review model or report design and to filter the data.
Of course you are able to extend the OOM (OrderOf Magnitude) value, but this should be done with care and depending on available resources like memory.

Unfortunately there are no updated Technotes available, but in general the information shared here is still valid:

Preventing large queries from exceeding memory capacity by specifying a tuple limit

Understanding the advanced setting (qsMaxCrossjoinOrderOfMagnitude) for QueryService (10.2.1)

Here you'll also find a description how this parameter can be set.

I hope you'll find this useful.
    Best regards

    Hi Getrud,

We have changed this settings and still have this issue.
We get also a message from that this exceeds the service limits.

    Kind regards,
    Jan van Otten
