Going from 7.5 to 8.1 build (114), I currently grab all the production systems (mms, msd, mtt), move them to the upgraded PC, and rebuild them, starting with opening the type trees, building and saving. Then I build the maps through the IFD, and deploy.
The ony issue I've had is where a map rule using SUBSTITUTE hung a map to the point where the audit log had the first tag and stopped. The SUBSTITUTE said:
SUBSITUTE(In1, "<<CR>><<CR>>","<<CR>>").
Why the person put two << and >> signs in the code, I do not know, but it worked in 7.5 and not in 8.1, and when I removed them, the map worked fine.
Other then that, it's been smooth, but I haven't started full end to end testing yet, running all types of inputs and making them fail to ensure the success of the error processing systems, etc. I've only been starting systems and run one file through, or dropping a message to a message queue.
We're moving to 8.1 instead of any more current releases (8.2, 8.3), because we've done alot of testing already, and in a meeting with IBM, there's a lot more XML functionality in 8.2+, of which we don't use, and we don't use the soap adapter.
