  • 1.  Wincollect - MMC could not create Snap-In. -

    Hi Community,

    I've been trying to install Wincollect + Wincollect Configuration Console on Windows 2016, 2019 and Windows 10 systems but have not been able to run Wincollect Configuration Console. A message appears MMC could not create Snap-In. I took a look at this: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/qradar-wincollect-%E2%80%9Cmmc-could-not-create-snap

    But it didnt help me. It is funny what Microsoft says: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2486109/unable-to-open-mmc-on-windows-server-2008

    "Copy Machine.config from a known good server."

    I don't have any known good server.

    There is no CLSID information related to the "MMC could not create snap-in" Message.

    Yes. .NET 3.0 and 3.5 are installed.

    You may need to ensure the correct wincollect patch installer version is correct for the agent version that is installed. . Ex. wincollect agent v7.2.9 and wincollect console patch v7.2.9 as well. Any mismatch may cause that error. This is how I solved this after enabling windows features.

    Hi Bruno,

    If you installed the .NET 3.0 and 3.5 and the computer is not rebooted after that, I think, Unfortunately, this is the reason.

    I have encountered this situation a lot, every time I installed .NET manually, it resolved with the rebooting the system. (I know it must be the last option for the server, but I did not find any other way)

    Do you have .NET installed on computer way before you install Management Console?

    Hey community,

    thank you for the replies. I already had found a solution, which is to first install .NET 3.5 and then install Wincollect.
    I usually first installed WIncollect+patch and then realized that 3.5 was not there. After installing 3.5 and then the wincollect patch I got this error message.
