    Will the Power 11 S1112 be available prior to that?

    The S1112 is scheduled to be GAed in July 2026

    Please note, the URL listed here shows the selected POWER9 servers that will have service discontinuance on January 31, 2026. These are not all POWER9 servers.

    Notably, the 9009-22G, 9009-41G and 9009-42G do not have their EOS announced yet. Same holds true for systems like 9040-MR9 (E950) and 9080-M9S (E980) for which no announcement was made.

    I would like to add an related question:  Is there any recommendation for customers currently running small oracle workloads on S922 22A systems what to do next year?

    Replacing them with S1014 / S1012 seems to be a bit of a waste, given that Power 11 is available in principle (and already supported by oracle) and would be a more sustainable invest.  But it seems currently there is no Power 11 for Oracle SE2, yet.

    So far I only found the following sentence in the  IBM Power11 Scale-Out Servers: Introduction and Overview red book, but nothing else except the discussions in this forum.

    Well, no later than some time next year, IBM will have the suggested replacement model out, as outlined in the following image from https://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpieces/pdfs/sg248590.pdf

    Actually IBM seems to be recommending a P10 tier for S922 as opposed to the P05 tier for S914.  The S922 replacement is out.  Whether or not you can run that workload on a P05 tier is another question.

    The way I see this is that any IBM product called a S1112 is NOT ANNOUNCED and SHOULD NOT be discussed in a public forum.

    Any dates or specifications are pure guesswork. 

    I also worry that Non-Disclosure Agreements are being broken by people who should know better.

    If I have this all wrong, please let us all know the official online announcement document links.

    Interestingly, Google (AI parts) just makes up the data from S1012 details = complete lies!

    Hi Nagel,

    We've met at IBM technical conferences in the past; thank you for those and for your contributions!

    It's an interesting topic, and it seems that this situation has changed recently. I'm referring to the new IBM Power11 S1112 server, which is designed (among other things) to serve as an ideal platform for Oracle databases under the Oracle Database SE2 licensing terms, as stated by the manufacturer in the technical overview for that server:

    However, the S1112 server has very limited hardware capabilities (1 socket, 512 GB of RAM, few PCI slots), and for larger environments that were previously run under an Oracle Database SE2 license-for example, on IBM Power9 S924 servers-this hardware is insufficient and relatively underpowered.

    Is there any theoretical Oracle audit risk if an IBM S1122 server were used to run an Oracle database under an Oracle Database SE2 license, assuming that each socket on this server were equipped with a so-called eSCM chip (Single Chip Module)? In this scenario, the server would have 2 sockets and would be expected to meet Oracle's licensing requirements.
