  • 1.  why poor performance

    Posted Wed October 16, 2002 11:51 AM

    X-Application Version: 3.1.3,
    Tamino Version : 3.1.1 and 3.1.2
    Platform : Win2k
    WebContainer : Tomcat 3.3
    JDK Version : 1.3.1

    I got poor performance when using X-Application to search data. It took around 4 minutes while when I used Tamino Interactive Interface, it took around 14 seconds.

    I’ve tested by both Tamino v.3111 and v312. The pages are using utf-8 chinese.

    Any ideas on this issue?

    Thanks!

    Mullin

    Hello Mullin,

    did you check the performance tips to speed up JSP processing within the X-Application documentation?
    Follow the links in the documentation "Installation, … " → “Installation” → “Configuration Tips”.

    Yes,

    1. No big diffences after changing the settings
    2. The testing is done at the same machine (tomcat and Tamino are sitting at the same machine)

    Could you post some characteristics about the pages that are processed slowly?
    - are all pages affected, or just some (e.g. modify, create or query page)?
    - how many jsp tags are on the page?
    - in case of query: what tags do you use to query tamino?
    - are you sure to have the -classic switch set in tomcat?
    (you can ensure this by setting the system environment variables:
    _JAVA_LAUNCHER_DEBUG=true
    JAVA_COMPCMD=FORCE_SIGNON
    and check the information in the tomcat window)

    Could you send a page as attachement?
