Who knows of a starter's guide to survival analysis in SPSS?

Dear colleagues and SPSS enthusiasts -

I would welcome your suggestions for a good introductory read on survival analysis in SPSS, which I will need to apply early 2024. I have a decent general knowledge of the more common analytics in SPSS (mostly within the General Linear Model).

The context is not medical, nor penitentiary, but rather for the domain of Human Resources. How to predict attrition risk, and the timing at which it is likely to happen, taken into account different retention factors (monetary and other).

Who can recommend a good article, tutorial, book on the subject not too far from my domain?

I wanted to withdraw this entry, but couldn't. Instead, let me post my learnings so far.

    1. It will not harm to refresh Logistic Regression before taking on Survival Analysis, easily found in many statistics handbooks, but Andy Field's Discovering Statistics using IBM SPSS Statistics (5th Ed)  chapter on Logistic Regression has a sort of absurd humorous start of the chapter.
    2. In the SPSS documentation, mentioned under Cox Regression Recommended Readings:
      • Hosmer, D. W., and S. Lemeshow. 1999. Applied Survival Analysis. New York: John Wiley and Sons.
      • Kleinbaum, D. G. 1996. Survival Analysis: A Self-Learning Text. New York: Springer-Verlag.
    3. Survival Analysis Using SPSS, by Hui Bian, is a pdf of 57 slides, explains terms, features SPSS printscreens, explains life tables, Kaplan-Meier, Cox Regression. Found easily through scholar.google.com
    4. Introduction to Survival Analysis, by Dr Kathrin Schemann, of the University of Sydney, posted a 83 page pdf. It features a step by step approach and digs a little deeper in the analysis. Found easily through scholar.google.com
    5. A short article, but very practical step by step, is Stepwise Cox regression analysis in SPSS by Dessai et al. in Cancer Res Stat Treat 2018;1:167-70.
    6. Kaplan-Meier using SPSS Statistics is another article my learning benefited from. https://statistics.laerd.com/spss-tutorials/kaplan-meier-using-spss-statistics.php
    7. Finally, it helps to play with the relevant sample files of IBM SPSS, which you find through the File -> Welcome Dialog -> Sample Files in the SPSS application.
