When will OpenSSH version 10 be available for AIX?

  • 1.  When will OpenSSH version 10 be available for AIX?

    Anybody know when OpenSSH version 10 binaries will be available for AIX?    OpenSSH version 10 came out in April.     Keeping up to date with the latest versions of tools such as OpenSSH is essential.    If some IBM'er could pass this info onto the AIX development team, it would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks.

    Yes, publishing 10.0 version of openssh is in plan. As 10.0 version makes PQC key agreement as default, it is one of the high priority items to be released for AIX.

    We are planning to publish it in web download pack in early Q1 2026.

    From vulnerabilities point of view, fixes for all the CVEs reported in 10.0 version is back ported to 9.9p2 release (VRMF: 9.9.3015.2000) and it is available in web download pack.

    we need to resolve several vulnerabilities that according to Tenable are only fixed with version 10 of OpenSSH.
     
    Could you please indicate if version 10.0 is still scheduled for release in April and if you already know the day in April when customers will be able to download it?

    Due to several other commitments, the release of openssh 10.2 version is postponed to late Q3 2026. 

    As noted the fixes for openssh are back ported to our existing versions through ifix : 
    https://aix.software.ibm.com/aix/ifixes/security/openssh_advisory20.asc

    If it is from scanning perspective, you can try to set DisplayPatchVersion yes in ssh_config / sshd_config (with sshd restart) and perform the scan.
    This flag will provide the patched version to the scanning tool, hopefully it can resolve scan results.
