    We have an AIX 5.3 partition with virtual disk hosted through a pair of VIO servers running 1.3.0.1-FP-8.1 and backed by a HDS with HDLM. We have successfully configured and added additional virtual disks to a running AIX client. Part of the final client configuration is to set the hcheck_interval for the hdisk with chdev and set the path priority for each virtual scsi with chpath.

    Do these changes become effective immediatly or do they require a reboot? The AIX chpath and chdev documentation do not inidcate that a reboot is necessary, but there are various other documents that suggest it is required.
