What made you switch MDM platforms and was it worth it?

    Hey everyone,

Just wanted to start a discussion around MDM platforms. We recently switched to a new MDM after getting fed up with some issues on our old one, things like clunky app updates, limited features for kiosk mode (especially on Android), and support that took forever to respond.

The new platform isn't perfect but it's made a big difference. Setting up devices is smoother, support is quicker, and we finally have more control over what we need. The switch took some time and effort but overall I think it was worth it.

So now I'm wondering, has anyone else here made the switch from one MDM to another? What pushed you to change? And after the move, did things actually improve?

Would love to hear your experience, especially if you're managing a bunch of devices or juggling different platforms.

As someone who has been deeply involved in mobile device management for over 18 years-starting with BlackBerry Enterprise Server-I fully understand the importance of selecting the right MDM solution, especially if you are going to migrate to a new one.

It's critical to keep in mind that nothing is truly free. Even if your MDM comes bundled with another service, successful deployment and long-term management require investment in bandwidth, time, expertise, and ongoing training.

Today's MDM platforms tend to offer similar core functionality. However, when advising clients, I always emphasize five key factors that should guide the selection process:

    1. Workflows – Are the configuration and management workflows intuitive and easy to follow?
    2. Change Management – How frequently do workflows change, and does the vendor provide adequate communication before those changes go live?
    3. Technical Support – Are technical resources easily accessible when issues arise or when new features are introduced? Does the vendor proactively support and guide your team?
    4. Communication – How effectively does the vendor communicate about bug fixes, new features, and technology updates?
    5. Vendor Commitment – Does the vendor have dedicated support, development, and technical teams focused solely on the MDM solution? Or is support diluted across broader product teams, making it harder to get clear answers?

Before joining ConnecTel Wireless, I worked for an MDM vendor and had the opportunity to evaluate many solutions. In that process, it became clear that IBM MaaS360 stood out, consistently meeting and exceeding these criteria.

If you'd like, I'm happy to walk you through what makes IBM MaaS360 such a strong option for enterprises focused on secure, scalable, and well-supported device management.

    Best regards,
