  • 1.  What is GEAR Replacement?

    Posted 07/25/11 07:23 PM

    Hi
webMethods used to have GEAR as the best practices methodology.
Does Software AG still propose GEAR for webMethods (8.x versions)?
    OR
Is there a new best practices methodology recommended by Software AG?
If so, where can I find the documentation related to it.

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks
    Sathish.

    Hi Sathish,

GEAR is still very much alive and continues to be enhanced. GEAR is now only available through your local Software AG Consultancy team. Please reach out to your Account Manager to understand how you can realise the value of GEAR.

    Regards,

    Jag.

    Hi Jag
    Thank you for your response.
If I want to download the older GEAR documentation (GEAR 6, GEAR 6.5 etc.), where can I get that documentation?

I looked in Empower, advantage sites but no luck.

    Thanks
    Sathish.

I believe you can still access https://advantage.webmethods.com/gear if you have your Advantage logon details.

    Hi Jag
I have tried that link. It takes me to a page where there is a URL for “GEAR 6.5”. When I click on that link, nothing happens. The same page is displayed again.

I work for Avon which has licenses for webMethods 6.5 and I am a bit confused about why it is so hard to access the GEAR documentation.
    It is very frustrating.

Please help me if you can.
    Thanks
    Sathish.

    Hi Sathish,

Give this link a go - its a zip of GEAR 6.5 https://advantage.webmethods.com/GEAR_6.5.zip

Are you aware that webMethods 6.5 was End of Maintenance in October 2010 and is End of Support October 2011?

I presume you are planning an Upgrade soon?

    Regards,

    Jag.
