  • 1.  What Do You Consider the Most Important Skill for New IBM Cloud or AIX Learners?

    Posted 2 days ago

    Hi everyone,

I'm exploring both cloud and system administration concepts (including IBM Cloud and AIX), and I'm curious:

    • What is one skill you believe every beginner should focus on first?

I'd really appreciate learning from your experience and understanding what helped you the most early in your journey.

    Thank you

    Thank you for reaching out.

From my experience, the most important skill for any beginner-whether in cloud, system administration, IBM Cloud, or AIX-is to build a strong foundation in Linux fundamentals. Understanding concepts like file systems, permissions, processes, networking basics, and command-line operations will help you in every other area you explore later.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, it becomes much easier to understand cloud architecture, virtualization, automation, and platform-specific technologies like IBM Cloud and AIX.

    Thank you for your message

I completely agree having a solid understanding of Linux fundamentals is one of the most valuable starting points for anyone entering cloud, system administration, IBM Cloud, or even AIX.

Once you develop comfort with the core concepts file systems, permissions, processes, networking, and CLI usage you'll find that every other technology becomes easier to learn.

These fundamentals act as the backbone for understanding cloud architecture, virtualization, automation, and platform-specific ecosystems.

If you stay consistent with the basics, you'll build the confidence and technical depth needed to grow quickly in any direction you choose.

Happy learning, and feel free to reach out anytime
