  • 1.  What causes the WAS listeners to be down?

    Posted Mon January 18, 2016 04:41 PM

Recently the WAS listeners went down and the following error appeared:

"SystemErr R Caused by: java.io.IOException: Async IO operation failed (1), reason: RC: 10054 An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. Also in the WAS console, we saw the listeners were down."

We thought this was due to network error, however are there any other reasons that the listeners could be down?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Shawna,

As per my perspective, there could be many reasons like network or firewall access onto the ports (not permissible) or even the application server/nodeagent itself shut down/killed which affected the kind of access to it and hence failing the sync operation.

I hope this is helpful. Thanks!

    Hi Shawna,

Normally this type of error is because the data cannot be transmitted and the number of retransmits are exhausting the listener and finnaly stoping.

I have found the next thread in DeveloperWorks seems the same error.

SRVE0293E IOException: Async IO operation failed (1), reason: RC: 10054 An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Which version of WAS and Operating System do you have?

Hope this helps. Tell us if you need more support.
