    Welcome to the first Product Potpourri of 2022!   I really enjoyed writing this series over 2021 and looking forward to more to share in 2022.  Here are the latest questions to get our year started:

    • How do I use the "other" column in a report?  This link for the Apptio Help Center, instructions roughly halfway down the page, will show you both the "other" column and a number of other chart properties you may find handy.  Apptio Help Center - Set Chart Properties

     

     

    • Can I create an authorization for reports based on the User Id instead of "Only Me", "Everyone" or "By Role"?   In this case, the permissions that we currently have are Everyone, Only Me, and by Role.  If this is something that you'd like us to consider adding as an enhancement, though, you can reach out to the Apptio Support team.  They'll be happy to assist you in entering one.

     

    • How do I use Master Reports? This article is from our Apptio Help Page, Apptio Help Center - Master Reports.  Itwill give you a walkthrough of not only how to use Master Reports, but also how you can create your own.

    • We use the "Other" property by default in pie charts. The system does it by itself. We just have to limit the number of rows, as explained in the help pages.
       
    • I find particularly intriguing the one for the default colors of metrics, but we haven't done it yet. We'll look into this.
       
    • We have implemented the Userid point by defining a custom role, cloned from a generic one, to grant access only to a handful of users manually selected. A bit cumbersome, but less so than having to update the report if the userid would change, IMO.

    • We created a master report with our company's branding. We use it all the time, for every new report. As I wrote in other threads, we have links to the TBMO documentation, and we give the users to contact us via email with the click of a button.
