    Posted 30 days ago

    Hello Everyone,

For DB backups, we are keeping a 15 years of data retention policy On-Prem systems, where we are currently running, we are planing the migration for webMethods to the AWS Cloud, when validating costs, we realized that keeping the same retention policy in AWS is more costly, do you have any sussgestions or do you know how other companies are dealing with this challenge?

Do you know what other companies' backup policy is for the DBs, or what is your recommended backup policy?

    Best regards
    Carlos Guevara

What database are you planning on using on AWS? Are you planning to use EC2 VMs or a database as a service offering like RDS / Aurora?

    Hello Dave,

Thanks for your reply. We are planning to use MySQL DB with the RDS AWS Service.

    Best regards

RDS Aurora is MySQL compatible and may be somewhat cheaper for storage and backups. Aurora is certified for usage with webMethods

Depending on what you store in the database, perhaps you could configure webMethods Monitor to archive data to a cheaper database

    Thanks for your feedback, Dave.

Our backup is from the TN schema, which mostly contains processed transaction details. The IS Core and Process schemas are not considered.
    Any other suggestions?

    Best regards
