David, either check DNS or hosts file for your virtual machine. It seems WAS is not being able to figure the IP address of your computer named "david-virtual-machine".

WAS is very sensitive to hostname resolution issues, make sure everything is set on that front and try again.

    Hi ,

Please check any other WAS services are running under the same box.

Try to stop all WAS services and start DMGR fisrt.

While u r stopping DMGR, its stopped successfully or u killed DMGR process.

    Pleas check, it should work.

    Hi David,

the ffdc files are located at

    /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/Dmgr01/logs/ffdc

but as Alexei says your issue is a host resolution problem, WAs can't register (open) the ports on your machine "david-virtual-machine" because it can't find the host.

you need to do a succesfull ping to david-virtual-machine putting it on host fileor registering in DNS server

    regards,

    (SOLVED)I was facing same problem.
    I checked hostname in /etc/hosts
where hostname was different than wat i given during installation of websphere so i correct is nd now Application server is working fine.

    Thanks to all
