  • 1.  WAS 8.0 and Fix pack installation

    Hi All,

    I don't have konwledge on WAS 8.0 installation process. I have to migrate WAS 6.1 to WAS 8.  We have donwloaded IBM Installation manager and WAS 8.0.  I have installed WAS 8, upto installation files( profiles not crated). While applying fix pack 4 WAS  8.0, i am getting some errors'  I have downloaded WAS 8 fix pack and added into IM repository. While updating after some time, files not found, updating failed due to some files not find.

    Note :  I am installing WAS on Windows machine,  this machine not connected to  internet.








    Error updating.

    Installation Manager cannot remove feature IBM 32-bit SDK for Java,
    Version 6

    from the installation package.The feature is a required component.

    Please help me, how can i install fix pack  4 for WAS 8.0.  
    Internet is required for connecting IBM site.

    Hi Chinna,

      I have follow the next steps with out problems to install/update WAS 8 in windows environment.  If you download the Fixpack and register repository then internet is NOT needed.
     
       1.- Download IBM Installation Manager (IM)
       2.- Update IM
       3.- Download WAS binaries (If you have passport avantage/Value Package you can configure to download directly software from IBM->Internet requiered)
       4.- Unzip binaries in the same directory.
       5.- Register repository (directory where you have unzipped binaries)
       6.- Install product from IM.
       7.- Download WAS FP
       8.- unzip WAS FP
       9.- Register repository of WAS FP
      10.- From IM update button and then select WAS FP
      11.- When finish updating, create profiles.

    Check the size or checksum of the fixpack file you downloaded.

    It looks like either the download or extraction is incomplete.

    I'm going to add my support to Joseph's comment.  It doesn't appear that the extraction is complete.
