    Am exploring MFT.

    I want to know exact purpose of the VFS with no physical location( check box with This has a physical location).

    As MFT VFS is a tree view kind of structure,there might be chances where you want a particular VFS serves as a grouping container, without actual having mapped to a location. Think it as a folder, and sometimes you want a parent folder to contain more subfolders that contain files in it.

    That is the purpose of virtual VFS.
