Using IBM Watson to Analyze TikTok Comment Sentiment – Anyone Tried It?

I'm working on a small project where I pull public TikTok comments (via their API) and run sentiment analysis to understand audience reactions to certain topics.

I'm considering using IBM Watson NLP for this and maybe storing the processed results on IBM Cloud.

One interesting angle is how sentiment analysis might differ across different versions of TikTok. For example, there’s also a modified version of the app, often referred to as this platform, which caters to more mature audiences and allows unfiltered discussions. Since the type of content is different there, analyzing comments could give very different insights compared to the regular TikTok app.

    Has anyone here:

    • Tried running Watson sentiment or emotion analysis on short, slang-heavy social media text like TikTok comments?

    • Found effective ways to pre-clean the text so the analysis is more accurate?

    • Integrated this into a workflow that scales for thousands of comments per day?

Any insights or lessons learned would be appreciated.
