  • 1.  Using Alert Verify function question

    Posted Tue June 10, 2025 12:20 PM

    Hello TechXchange!

Using the Option SE.A.A   to select and customize alerts, I've run into a question as to how the 'S'elected alert file is used.  On an existing test system, I've been dropped a problem wanted to correct an error the alert configuration file member.  Using the 'V'erify on the previously configured member, it generates the error as:

CKR0231 08 (SUB/TOP)TITLE must occur before fields on output line - field 'Alert: Mainview alert has been detected' at ISP10495 line

the message truncated the line number I guess but the 'field' is identified.  I tried to edit the configuration alert member and insert some identifiers on these zCarla lines of code. Then I tried to 'RE-VERIFY' that same member that I just edited.   Problem: the 'RE-VERIFY' seems to be pulling an old version of the member and doesn't seem to use the member I edited in the 'HLQ.ZSECURE.DATA.C2POLICE.C2PCUST(membername)' .

Q: How do you 'RE-VERIFY' the membername after editing it (using ISPF EDIT outside the zSecure dialog).  Does it pull the previous config member from memory somewhere even though C2POLICE STC is down/stopped?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi lynn,

no it shouldnt make any difference if you edited the skeleton for your own alert in the C2PCUST dataset via ISPF 3.4. The CARLa in the report member is generated via a technique called ISPF file tailoring. During this process the first dataset used for skeletons is the C2PCUST dataset. So reverifying(the UI doesnt know you changed something so reverify is needed) via the Alert UI should work.

    cheers
