Hi,

We have an app that was added from the Google play store. Distributed to a select group of mobiles. 

The App developer has a new version that he needs us to use, but it's not ready for the play store, so he needs us to upload it, test and then deploy. 

I thought I could just use the App, Add 'Enterprise App for Android' option.   When I try to upload, I get an error message:
app already exists. Use upgrade app action to add an additional version.

I don't see where I can add an additional version?  I've looked everywhere.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Hi Andy
Am assuming that you are referring to using the Google  Play Store to deploy a Private App for exclusive use by your enrolled users. 
This doesn't support a beta-type function so the Google Play Store has a unique constraint of only one instance of an App ID can be present. 
There is a way you can work around this which I have documented in a blog I posted recently:

Thanks for this, Really good article - I'll go down the 'private app for android enterprise'. 

Could you point me to the work around for the two instances please as I don't seem to be able to find that?

When I try and upload the private app / APK I get the message: Upload a new APK file with a different package name
