Update fixpack - need to uninstall?

Hi...i need to update from WAS 6.1.0.17 to 6.1.0.23. Searched the forums but couldn't find much.

Questions:
1) Do i need to uninstall UpdateInstaller for 17, then only install Updateinstaller for 23? Or will the UpdateInstaller for 23 be able to detect 17 and installs over it?

2) I don't need to uninstall the current Fixpack 17 right? So I'm basically updating from 6.1.0.17 to 6.1.0.23 straight, instead of 6.1.0.0 (after uninstalling FP17) to 6.1.0.23. Please confirm.

Thanks for the reply skumar. FYI i have managed to update the fixpack by first uninstalling the older UpdateInstaller version and installing the new UpdateInstaller thereafter.

Now I need to perform the same update on production environment, with clusters. There are 2 physical servers, each server hosting 2 applications in a horizontal cluster. That is:

Server1: App1a App2a Dmgr
Server2: App1b App2b

In addition there are 2 more physical servers for the 2 IHS web servers:

Server3: Web1
Server4: Web2

1) Do I need to install Fixpack on Server1 only? And the new fixpack will be auto applied to Server2 cluster members when the nodes are sync-ed? Or do I have to separately install Fixpack on Server2 as well after installing in Server1?

2) For the web servers, I'm guessing that I need to install the (web server) Fixpack separately on each machine but need confirmation.

3) Where do I install the web server plugin Fixpack? In Server1 or (Server3 Server4)?

Update Fixpack

1. I assume you need to uninstall the existing update Installer for 61017 to upgrade 61023 if both are sharing the same location (Directory structure).

you can always download the latest update installer into different location and Install the fixpacks.

2. For Upgrading the 6.1.0.23 you don't have to uninstall the existing fixpack 6.1.0.17.
