  • 1.  unable to send mail from Cognos Application

    Hi,

    We are using Flexera Application on top of that we installed Cognos Application for reporting purpose. So while sending the mail from report it self, We are getting this errors.

    A failure notification was sent
    Error CNC-SDS-0410 The email message was not sent. Approximate message size: [897 B] The Mail server returned this error: [530 5.5.1 Access denied. ]
    Error CNC-SDS-0335 Error returned from SMTP Server. The error message was: [530 5.5.1 Access denied. ]. The message could not be sent.

    Any one can help on this. If provide any documentation for this also fine.

    Note : from this server we are getting mail like heath check which we configured on the windows task scheduler.

    It might be an issue with your anti-virus.

    Hi Sreerama,

    in regards of " [530 5.5.1 Access denied. ]" the problem is either with the mail server blocking IBM Cognos or the credentials configured in IBM Cognos Configurations needs to be reviewed.

    Check out these Technotes:
    1. CNC-SDS-0335 returned from SMTP Server
    2. Getting Error CNC-SDS-0335 Error returned from SMTP server. The error message was: [535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed from <IP>]. The message could not be sent.

    Although 2nd refers to IBM Cognos 10.x the steps haven't change, in case the mail server credentials cause your problem.
