  • 1.  Unable to Install Cloud Pack for Data with Web Installer

    I am able to start the installation from the web interface
    Filled out the form accordingly

    The bottom of the page shows "pre-install checks running" - it has been showing that message for about one and a half hour 

    the log shows:

    2019-09-29 19:06:47 UTC - Validating configure file
    2019-09-29 19:06:47 UTC - Configure file is validated
    2019-09-29 19:06:47 UTC - Initializing Setup: Setting up ansible groups and corresponding variables
    2019-09-29 19:06:47 UTC - The password is empty, the installer will exit

    Hi,

    Can you check if you have the following file?:

    <install_path>/InstallPackage/tmp/.password

    Did you have wdp.conf file in the installation folder?

    Hi Tomaz,
     
    The file is not in the in the tmp folder, also there was no reference of it in the installation guide. The wdp.conf file got created by the wizard. I was able to overcome the issue by running the install with the wdp.conf file but now it is stuck for a while on the step below - any suggestions ? the hosts are in a data center with plenty of bandwidth

    Initially  I was installing Cloud Pak by using the web browser UI - that did not go well - then I switched the approach by using the:  "Installing Cloud Pak for Data with a configuration file" (wdp.conf) I added an id_rsa line to the wdp.conf file and copied the file to the install directory

    If you are doing the UI install, you should not have the wdp.conf file, I believe this is the cause of the issue.

    Hi Tomaz,
     
    the wdp.conf file got created automatically by the UI 
    it used the information I entered in the form, 
     
    my guess is that the installer uses the file to run
    do you know the steps to clean a failed installation by any chance?
     
    going to try to remove what has been done and start fresh
