  • 1.  Trying to establish a connection to cognos analytics in IBM DataStage tool

    ​​Hello Everyone,

    We have got a scenario here where we are trying to establish a connection to cognos analytics in IBM DataStage tool and run a cognos report.
    Since we are totally new to it, we have no idea like where to start.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Sunder,

    Just to clarify, you can not run a Cognos report from within DataStage. DataStage is an ETL tool that you can use to read from just about any data source, and then send your output into a data source that can be used by Cognos Analytics.

    For example, let's assume that your data is in a flat file in columnar format, but you want to use a Db2 table in Cognos Analytics. In DataStage, you could create a job that starts with a Sequential File connector stage , sorts, filters, and/or transforms the data, then send the data back to a Db2 Connector stage.

    In Cognos Analytics, you would add a connection to the transformed data, and then  create your report.
