Hi all,
I would like to ask for help to understand the average compression ratio achieved with the IBM DS8950F when using Transparent Cloud Tiering (TCT).
I'm currently working on a case where the customer has around 3.8 PB of data, and about 800 TB correspond to ML2 data. Since ML2 data can benefit from TCT, and our study indicates MSU savings when moving this data from the DS8950F to an S3 repository (most likely a TS7780), it would be very helpful to understand what compression ratios customers are typically seeing with TCT implementations.
Although compression may vary, the current environment achieves around a 3:1 compression ratio.
In our case, this information is important because it will directly impact the capacity planning required for the TS7780.
Thanks in advance.
