    The ITX Game

    I don't know about you but some weeks are more stressful for me than others. I blow off steam by playing video games. I'm not a hard core gamer (no D&D) more of a pong to Space Invaders to Solitaire to Angry Birds to Fishdom kind of gal. But I was thinking, how hard could it be to make a game where IBM Sterling Transformation Extender conquered various industry and technology standards?

     

    It turns out not too hard at all. I started with an old style campy retro space invaders template and created graphics for my sprites and other assets and in a short time (with very little pseudo code) have an ITX game. Try it out:

    On a browser follow the link. The ITX> sprite is the player. Use the arrow keys to move and turn it and the space bar to explode those tricky industry and technology standards.

    Take THAT HIPAA, Take THAT EDI, blast you JSON!!

     

    Warning, I'm not good at playing shooting games so I set up the collision masks of some of the sprites to be skimpy (you might have to hit them several times to explode them!). This was my first attempt at a game ever. I used GDevelop and started with the Space Invader example. I just wanted to try one – and have something other than a video or powerpoint to put on social media to depict the power of ITX.

    Hey there!

    I checked out your ITX game, and it's pretty cool! I love the concept of IBM Sterling Transformation Extender conquering industry and technology standards. The retro space invaders vibe adds a fun touch, and I appreciate the creativity in using ITX as the player sprite. Taking down HIPAA, EDI, and JSON has never been more entertaining!

    I also noticed your disclaimer about the collision masks, but hey, it's your first game attempt, and it's already impressive. Keep honing those gaming skills!

    Thats a good idea. But good internet connection is necessery for online gaming. A good APN settings can bring a good internet. So alwys do a good apn settings for a good internet connectiojn

    Thanks so much for the incredibly thoughtful feedback! It's awesome to hear that you liked the concept and the retro vibe. Taking down those industry standards in a game was exactly the idea, and I'm really glad it came across.

    You definitely caught me on the collision masks! That's at the top of my list to fix in the next update.

    I can totally relate! Some weeks, gaming is the best way to chill out. I'm more into casual games too recently been playing stuff like Fishdom and some puzzle games on math playground (great for brain exercises). Your retro space invaders game sounds super fun, especially with the ITX twist! It's cool how you turned that concept into a real game. I'm definitely gonna check it out!

    Sounds cool! When I came to this, I thought it was a game written with the ITX tool! I wrote the Hangman game in WTX once, easy enough to use a DOS batch file to accept a command, store it in a text file, and let WTX detect it on a shared drive, action it and write a response to another file, again displayed by the DOS batch file. By asking for a name, I made it a multi-player game, several users trying to find their solution first, or unfortunately ...! Really I was demonstrating how report requests could be submitted by users, report created, and then delivered to the user by email, it went down quite well, though more kept playing the game than used the report generator! Haha! I'll give this one a try! Thanks!

    Some weeks just scream for low stakes, stress relief gaming, and building your own goofy retro style project honestly sounds like the perfect outlet. Turning something as niche as IBM Sterling Transformation Extender into a Space Invaders style game is such delightfully nerdy creativity. The internet's wild though you'll see totally unrelated stuff like  manok na pula mod apk floating around gaming spaces with zero context. Still, making your own game beats doom-scrolling any day.
