The third GA release of IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java (MoRE) is now available of as September 9, 2025. This release introduces support for Java SE 21 in managed Liberty servers, expanding supported Java versions beyond Java SE 17. This enhancement allows teams to adopt the latest Java features while continuing to benefit from MoRE's unified management of Java 8 and newer Java workloads in the existing WAS ND operational model, enabling modernization without disrupting operations.
Note: There is no new MoRE version for this release with the new functionality being delivered via the WAS 9.0.5.25 fix pack. MoRE Version 1.0.0.1 remains current.
As a reminder, MoRE continues to support static clustering and selected Jakarta EE 10 specifications, with a focus on Spring Framework 6.x technologies, as introduced in the previous release.
MoRE is available through IBM Enterprise Application Runtimes (EAR) or as an extension to existing WAS ND entitlements, including IBM WAS ND, IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition (WSHE) and IBM Cloud Pak for Applications (CP4Apps), both Standard and Advanced Editions.
