Dear IBM,
To resolve this:
1. Go to Edit > Options.
2. Click on the General tab.
3. Check the radio button for Classic mode (if you want separate windows for Syntax Editor and Output Viewer) or Workbook mode (if you want a single window with embedded functionality).
This should help you switch between Classic and Workbook modes in SPSS.

Subject: Syntax and Output not showing in SPSS 29
Hi @Marin Taylor
I don't see a screen shot here. One thing I would ask: Are you sure you are in "Classic" mode? Or have you instead gotten yourself into "Workbook" mode. Workbook mode embeds the functionality of the Syntax Editor and the Output Viewer into one window. See the "Edit -> Options" menu and the "General" tab to check the radio button for "Classic" or "Workbook" modes.

Subject: Syntax and Output not showing in SPSS 29
Hello, I am using SPSS 29 on Windows 10. I can open my dataset in SPSS but when I open a syntax or output window, they do not show up. See screenshot of my toolbar - when I click on the windows, nothing appears.
I have reset all dialog boxes, restarted computer multiple times. I have seen previous threads with this concern that were resolved using syntax, but I can't even open syntax.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
