  • 1.  Structure CSQSYSAPPL in failed state

    Posted Thu October 01, 2020 08:56 AM
    Hello,
I am facing the issue that CF structure CSQSYSAPPL is in failed state and the recovery cannot be completed because the needed archive dataset(s) is not available anymore. The recovery is still running (better waiting) as signalized by this repeating message:
CSQE133I .MQE8 CSQERPLS Structure recovery reading log
    backwards, LRSN=D8817E3EE079
This situation happens on cloned system because we did not perform BACKUP CFSTRUCT command closely before flash copy running and now we have problem to recover the MQ subsystem on cloned system to fully running state.
At the moment just one QLOCAL is located into this structure - SYSTEM.QSG.CHANNEL.SYNCQ - keeping no message. I believe it could be possible to delete this structure and simply define it again but deleting does not work as the structure is mentioned "in use" even if I put the DELETE/DEFINE commands into the INP2 member to be executed just during MSTR region startup phase.
Question is - is there any possibility to reset CSQSYSAPPL structure to the ready status?
I would like to rather solve this issue somehow then to request new cloning from the source system as it is difficult to manage.
    Thank you!
    Best  regards,
    Radek

Hello Radek. The CSQSYSAPPL structure contains information that's used by MQ to maintain transactional integrity in the QSG, so to prevent loss of data it cannot be purged using the RECOVER CFSTRUCT command. For the same reason, you shouldn't try to delete and recreate the structure.

Anyone experiencing the situation you describe should contact IBM support for advice. It is possible under IBM support guidance to reset the structure back to empty, but we need to be sure that doing so won't cause any unexpected side effects first.

    Regards

    Gwydion

    Greetings,

Open a CASE with IBM support.  there are ways to get this recovered but they are (or were not the last time I looked) documented.

Please remember to issue the BACKUP CFSTRUCT commands for all recoverable structures regularly. The development lab recommended every hour, I recommend it more frequently based on how busy the queue sharing group is with persistent messages.

    Thanks
    Lyn
