i have a question. recently i have been struggling with the descriptive Analysis. I have first of all to change the type of Variable. After i changed the Type of variable from string to numeric, were my data automatically changed or missed.

First, I wonder why you need to change the variable type to numeric/

If you have values that are not actually numbers in your string, they will become system missing when the type is converted. If you do have some nonnumeric strings, you might consider using AUTORECODE (on the Transform menu) to create a numeric variable that recodes and preserves all the values.
