  • 1.  start onbar and ontape simultaneously

    HI, all:
          When the onbar backup is running, I start a ontape backup simultaneously, the online.log display:
          Archive on rootdbs,phydbs,logdbs,datadbs ABORTED.
         Does it mean when the onbar is running I can't start ontape to do the backup again?

    You should NOT mix onbar and ontape. If you are using onbar for backup DO NOT USE ontape (except "fake" backups) otherwise you will LOOSE your backup data.

    Onbar is using ixbar file and sysutils database so onbar counts it can get all objects back - if you backup just one logical log with ontape, onbar can't get that for restore purposes. And if you are using ontape for backup purposes, ontape is counting you have all objects in directory/on tape device - if you backup one logical log to onbar, it is not where ontape expects it.

    So, again, DO NOT MIX ONTAPE AND ONBAR

    Hi,

    Yes ontape and onbar (and ifxclone) use the same threads to read the used pages from the instance so cannot be used at the same time.
