    As far as I remember, it was always an extra cost option. I don't see it in the 6.5.x install list, but it is there in 6.7.0

    We have had Mercator/DSTX since vn 5 and it has never included SSL as part of the base product. However, up to version 6.7 we used to get almost everything as part of a release whether we had paid for it or not. Good job I only ever used the licensed bits but it caused lots of problems with our license agreement after the IBM take over.

I just went back through the old online library files and found that SSL support is documented as being part of 6.0 with no mention of the "security option". 6.5 is the first version in which the documentation that I have specifically mentions the SSL is only supported with the security option installed. Unfortunately, I'm now developing in 8.0 and have my first requirement to support SSL over HTTP. I was mighty unhappy to discover that the TX Extended Edition did not provide have SSL support.

    As far as I know, it does have Security support, but as an option. Main reason it is optional is that it (Security files) can't be shipped to some countries, so if it was included in the main product, that couldn't be shipped either.
