  • 1.  SPSS stopped running

    I have SPSS 22, it stopped running overnight. When I start the program, SPSS appears on the taskbar trying to open the program, but then closes after 2/3 seconds. I uninstalled and installed it again several times but no success.  Would appreciate any support. Thanks

    Hi @Mark Marti 

    IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 reached end of Support on September 30, 2019.  So other than encourage you to upgrade to a supported version on a supported platform, the amount of support I can offer you will be limited.

    Still, there are general troubleshooting steps that remain relevant for all versions of SPSS Statistics:

    • What platform are you running SPSS Statistics 22.0 on (Windows, macOS, Linux?)
    • Had you already applied Fixpack 2 to your 'working' installation prior to it failing?
    • Are you receiving any errors or warnings when you try to launch the product?
    • What changed between the product running one day and then not running the next?
      • License expired?
      • Firewall updated and blocking something essential for IBM SPSS Statistics? (The 'stats.exe' and 'spssengine.exe' processes must be allowed to communicate with each other)
      • Anti-virus software suddenly pinging to the version of Java shipped in Statistics version 22.0 and blocking its execution?

    I hope this is helpful as a starting place for your own troubleshooting.
