  • 1.  spss statistics 30 version, not install extbundles .spe file

    Posted Wed October 16, 2024 09:41 AM

The .spe files, which are extended dialog box functions located in C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics\ExtBundles, are not found in C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\IBM\SPSS Statistics\one folder. In the previous version (version 29), running SPSS Statistics would automatically unzip the .spe files from the ExtBundles folder and move them to the "one" folder, allowing the corresponding extended dialog boxes to be used in SPSS. However, in version 30, these extended dialog boxes from the ExtBundles folder are not installed automatically.

Hi @jungi bae, sorry to hear your having difficulty. Our QA re-checked this yesterday (I also tested it), and we are unable to replicate the problem.

Can you try the following please and let us know if it fixes the issue?

    • Create a new empty text file and drop it into the C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics\ExtBundles folder
    • Restart Statistics

That should cause the startup code to detect a change in the ExtBundles folder and trigger the automatic installation of the contents of that folder to the \Users\user\AppData\Roaming\IBM\SPSS Statistics\one folder. Let us know please if that doesn't solve the issue.

    Regards,

    hello.

I tried the method you provided, but the .spe files are still not automatically installed in "one" folder.

In version 29, the .spe files in the Extbundles folder were automatically installed the first time I ran SPSS Statistics after installation.

I currently have version 30 installed. When you open the C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics\ExtBundles folder, you see the following files FormatCorrelations.spe, FUZZY.spe, generalopen.spe, Naive_Bayes_Classifier. spe, SPSSINC_CREATE_DUMMIES.spe, SPSSINC_GETURI_DATA.spe, SPSSINC_MODIFY_OUTPUT.spe, SPSSINC_MODIFY_TABLES. spe, SPSSINC_PROCESS_FILES.spe, SPSSINC_PROCESS_FILES_SEARCH. spe, SPSSINC_QQPLOT2.spe, SPSSINC_RAKE.spe, SPSSINC_RECODEEX.spe, SPSSINC_SELECT_VARIABLES.spe, SPSSINC_SPLIT_DATASET. spe, SPSSINC_TRANS.spe, SPSSINC_TURF. spe, STATS_ADJUST_WIDTHS.spe, STATS_CANCORR.spe, STATS_CATEGORY_ORDER.spe, STATS_CLUS_SIL.spe, STATS_EXTENSION_REPORT.spe and STATS_MAKE_CATALOG. spe, etc. exist, but when I run the program for the first time after installing version 30, only FUZZY.spe is automatically installed in one folder and the others are not.

Hello @jungi bae, this is unusual. Let's try something else to see if we can better understand what is going on:

    1. Start Statistics
    2. Go to "Extensions -> Install Local Extension Bundle"
    3. Browse to one of the .spe files located in the ExtBundles folder and select it for installation

Question: Does the extension that you selected in the ExtBundles folder get properly installed?

This may require that you file a technical support case so the team can figure out what is different with your system.

    Best regards,
