Recientely I try the IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription Trial, but I've problems in MacOs Big Sur, is there some solutions for this incompatibility?

Currently Apple Big Sur operating system is not the final release. SPSS Statistics 27 release may not run properly on Big Sur beta version. The last officially supported Mac OSX for SPSS 27 release is Mac OSX Catalina. The final version of BigSur will be released by Apple in Autumn. SPSS Development is testing our software with the final release of BigSur and if problems they will fix it.

However, currently you should not use the Apple beta OSX for SPSS Statistics

I am using the latest version of Mac OS X Big Sur and am having issues with SPSS freezing. I can typically open the program, open a dataset from the first window, but when I try to open another file (e.g., a syntax file), the program freezes in the navigation pane to look for that file. I have the latest version of Java. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem with SPSS (v 26) freezing on Big Sur too. It's intermittent. Sometimes it works great... other times it lock...

I have got exactly the same problem everything freezes in SPSS 26 when I run it in Big sur 11.01. It opens ok but freezes the first moment I start to do computations

Please read below 2 articles for SPSS Statistics on Big Sur and what you need to do for release 26. However, the best would be if you upgrade to IBM SPSS Statistics 27.0.1 release

For release 26 you should install 26 fixPack 1 plus an Interim fix 26.0-IM-S26STATC-MAC-FP001-IF003. Links for downloads are in the articles. You will need to register for an IBM ID with your e-mail address and a self selected password. However, you will still need to obey what is said for issues with SPSS 26 on Big Sur on the articles. Please consider to upgrade to SPSS Statistics 27.0.1: "Anyone looking to upgrade their macOS to Big Sur is highly encouraged to upgrade to the latest version of SPSS Statistics also"

SPSS works fine in Mac as soon as you update to the 27 version

Here is how I soft the problem:

System preference --> General --> Prefer tabs: Never

Then SPSS windows will open in separate windows, and they will not freeze.

For those who could not do it: you have to disable tabs in Mac's system preference.

Is this in Mac's preferences or the SPSS preferences?

If Mac can you tell me which section it is under please :)

System preferences (Mac General) >> General >> Prefer tabs >> Never (while using SPSS)
